GQ Analysis
GQ originally was known as 'Gentlemans Quarterly', it focused on fashion, style and mens culture. It covered many topics including sport, fashion, music, sex, etc.... It has competition from FHM, and Maxim
GQ also follows a house style, however the title of the magazine 'GQ' does change every issue, for instance one week it might be black and white (as in example left), and another week it might be red and blue. There is always a main image in the centre of the featured person. The yellow writing readin ' 50 cent' is aiming to draw customers in by showing that 50 cent will be somewhere in the magazine, and as he is a household name, his fans will buy the product even if they are not regular buyers of GQ itself.
This magazine gives us an insight into the positioning of the image on the front cover and how the writing around it is placed and coloured to gain the best advantage and whether or not the magaizne will be effective when on sale. The house style GQ uses will also be interpretted in our magaizne cover as it will help to gain a strong customer base, that will recognise the magazine as soon as they see the front cover.
