Analysis of media products

This particular film/ documentary was incredibly successful when it was released: the film maker had spent a minimal amount (as can be seen from the production values) but had hit upon a really interesting idea that fitted the times: we witness him on a journey through a short period of time where his body becomes so toxic due to his high intake of fast food, that he comes close to death.

The film is a documentary following one individual on a journey. From start to end... This relates to my idea of a documentary as I will be following someone on a journey. however 'Supersize me' is more about health and how the characters health is affected, and mine is about following someone on a journey to become a professional footballer. The similarities are still clear as there are interviews with different people talking about the subject of the documentary.

Narrative

Time frame - we follow him over a set amount of days and monitor his actual food intake, and what effect this has on his body. He meets a range of people including doctors, health experts and self-confessed McDonalds 'junkies.'

Representation
How are people and institutions represented?

Institutions
How is the health profession and McDonalds represented? As friend or enemy?

Ideology

  1. Harry - you have made a promising start to this project, but it appears to be unfinished, with no notes made regarding 'representation', 'institutions' and 'ideology' in your deconstruction of this media documentary.
