soundtrack to trailer

I decided to use a group of 3 UK artist called Marvell the group members are Double S, Shocka and vertex. They make grime music with a sort of pop/ rap twist.
I downloaded their free mixtape which is copyright free. The track that i chose for my trailer is called 'Still the Talk' this goes well with the trailer as it is about someone who will hopefully be idolised as a true great footballer that everyone will be talking about. so the lyrics 'we're the talk of the town' goes well with the amitions of Harry Agombar (the up and coming football player).

I also chose this song as it was one of Harrys favourite tracks and also matches his dreams of becoming a rapper if he was not a footballer.

here is the link to the mixtape download.

draft designs website

DESIGN 1

DESIGN 2

Here are 2 draft designs for the home page of the website i am going to create. The chosen design will be the final design for my production.

I asked 20 people what design they wanted
and the results are shown below:

design 1 - 3
design 2 - 17

as the most popular design was design 2 this will be the design i am going to create for my final website homepage. i will also create a trailer link page and complete it and deisgn it in the same style as the homepage.

Looking fpr eric analysis

LOOKING FOR ERIC WEBSITE ANALYSIS

  • Simple
  • uses the same font throughout the production of the website
  • logo is used in alongside an images of the main characters to catch the audiences eye and make them search further into the website
  • there is a link to trailer of the film webpage
this could help me in the production of my website as I can use the simple design of the website in my design.
I will also need to make a link to my trailer on my webiste. i will make a hyperlink to the 'trailer' webpage.

below is a link to the film 'looking for eric' website.

damned united website - analysis

DAMNED UNITED WEBSITE ANALYSIS

  • the images used for the film poster and film dvd cover is used as the main images on the website
  • The title of the production 'damned united' is in the top left hand corner.
  • there are hyperlinks to pages; downloads, video, competition, etc.
  • date of release is at the bottom of the page.
This website has given me ideas of the fact that the main attributes of the film e.g. the title, images, fonts need to be used in the website aswell as the poster and trailer itself.
The website also showed me that there needs to be links on the page to webpages that may include the trailer/ video, downloads and competition pages.

Below is the link to the 'damned united' website/ webpage.

website analysis

GOAL 2 WEBSITE ANALYSIS

  • Simplistic
  • webpage for trailer
  • basic layout
  • plain colours (black, red, white)
  • title of the film at the top of the website home page
  • date of film release is on the homepage (in cinemas...)

This website will help me when making my own website by the simplistic look giving me the inspiration and showing me that the website does not have to be complicated to show and promote the film successfully.

The webpage with the film trailer on will also be a main point in my website, as I am creating a trailer for my project I will incorporate it into the website that I design and create.

here are the images I chose to use in the final production of the poster.
I have edited them into black and white.
one of the images has been edited so that the main player on the football pitch (harry) stood out in colour compared to the other players in black and white to make the audience aware that the media product is based on and around him.

analysis of film poster

The poster above is of the film 'looking for eric'. The film is about a man (our protagonist) looking for his hero 'eric cantona'. We follow him throughout his life and the the things he has to do to try and reach his goal of finding eric and in turn giving him the inspiration to fulfill his dreams.

The poster shows this by our protagonist being in the bottom left corner in colour and clearly stands out to the white background. He is also situated below with his eyes looking up to eric cantona. Eric himself is in black and white and is above our protagonist giving us the impression that he is a god like character in the eyes of our man on a journey.

the title of the film is in a bold red colour with the word 'ERIC' in a larger font and the I has been created into the shape of a man standing there with his arms open and looking up to the skies. This gives the viewers the idea that that the film will contain 'eric cantona' playing a cameo. This will further bring in more customers and appeal to more people due to the fact that eric cantona is known worldwide and is seen as one of the greatest footballers.

i can use the quote at the top of the poster in my poster design. However I would create and produce my own quote. This will make the viewer increase the idea of the fact that the film is a good quality film and people like it. The cast of the film is across the bottom in a faded grey colour that is visible but does not interfere with the images on the poster.

analysis of film poster

I have looked at and analysed the poster for the film goal as both my production and and this film both look at one character trying to make it a professional footballer. however my film is a documentary whilst this film is a high budget hollywood production.

The main character (santiago munez) is at the top of the poster this makes the audience clear that the film will be about him. The poster is in a way split up from the main character and beneath separated by a black line which contains the title 'goal' in white are images of how the main character has gone through different stages to reach his goal. These images are edited to portray different colours. Red, orange, yellow. this could be shown a journey in itself. As it goes red to orange then to yellow gradually getting lighter. this could show the beginning (him training) being yellow, the next stage orange (shows a love twist) and red is him scoring and celebrating this is the end of the story in this film.

i could use the idea of a main image at the top of the page and smaller images underneath this image. This will emphasise who the main character is and what it is about. also the title being in the lower middle of the poster to in a way split up the poster and allow the audience to think more about what the film might be about.

analysis of film posters

This poster is from the film 'the damned united' it is about a period of time when Brian Clough was in charge/ was manager of leeds united football club.

The poster shows a dark figure in the centre of the poster with his back to the viewer. This shows that he is looking at the players (we know this as it is a football based film and also they have football attire on). the players are in a light grey colour and this shows the contrast between managers and players and also the main character in the film. this contrast in colour shows the audience that the manager (Brian clough) will be the main person and who the film will be solely based on.

The font 'the damned united' has been placed over the dark figure to emphasise and ensure that the name of the film stands out to the audience. the tag line 'they love me for what i'm not....they hate me for who i am...' suggest that there will be some sort of struggle with everyone agreeing with the methods and choices the main character proceeds in doing. These tag lines also draw the audience in by making them want to watch the film and understand more of what these mean.

I could use the idea of a tag line in my poster as i feel this would add to the meaning of the poster and the film. this will make the audience know more of the film without actually seeing it. i could also use the idea of a black and white poster.

Image for use on poster production and film review article

For these images I went to a home football match at grays athletic home football ground (the new recreation ground). The match was against Luton Town football club. I set the camera up on a tripod and put the camera on a feature that took a number of shots at a time. I looked through the images and decided to put the best and most successful 8 images on my blog.

I will now incorporate these into my design of my poster and production of the new article.

useful footage clips

here is a basic edit of the footage. I have edited it roughly down to sections that I feel can be incorporated into the final film.

unedited filming/ footage

Here is the unedited footage that i filmed
  • I filmed a training friendly match between grays athletic and dagenham redbridge.
  • There are close ups
  • Long shots
  • Widescreen shots
  • Action shots (running, kicking football)
  • I also got footage of an interview of Harry himself
  • I also go footage of an interview one of Harry's friends

What is my target audience?

Target audience:

  • Mainly 15-18 year olds...however film amy appeal to all age groups as documentaries can appeal to the older members of society. Football is loved by the majority of the UK public.
  • Male
  • People that like watching things they can relate to real life people
  • People that can be inspired by a football story

Questionnaire analysis

I have looked at and observed the results of my questionnaire. This will help me decide whether my idea of making this trailer will be a success in the real world or not.

Question 1.

This question was about gender, it was a basic question asking whether the person completing the questionnaire was male or female.

The results were about even with 11 males, and 9 females. There is not a significant difference to take into account, however there are 2 more males which would suggest more male orientated answers will be given.

Question 2.

Question 2 was what type of documentary do you like best. The choices given were: REAL LIFE, SPORT, HEALTH AND FASHION.

the most popular was real life with 8, the next most popular option was sport. both of these were incorporated in my initial idea of following a real person around trying to make it as a professional footballer.

this has given me the information that the sub genre within documentary that i have chosen will be successful and is targeted to an age group that will be enthusiastic and willing to watch the film. The sub genre of a real life person and a documentary about sort were both found to be the most popular.

Question 3.

this question was what type of sport would you most prefer to watch a documentary about.

the choices were TENNIS, RUGBY, FOOTBALL AND OTHER. The most popular by a long way was football. This is more than likely because football is the UK's most popular sport and most publicised sport.

This tells me that my idea of creating a media product around a football was a good idea as football is the most popular sport and can appeal to different people no matter what the gender.

Question 4.

Question 4 was what would you prefer see a documentary about: FAMOUS PEOPLE, REAL LIFE PEOPLE, OR PEOPLE ON A JOURNEY. The answer most people went for was real life people. This was probably because people can relate to real life people as they are no different to the viewers. the second most popular was people on a journey this was surprising as famous people usually gain the most publicity in films. However the results further ensured me that I was making the right decision in creating a documentary on a real life person on a journey to become a professional footballer.

Question 5.

This final question was do you prefer long or short documentaries. the majority of people that took the questionnaire chose a short documentary.

This shows that people would much rather see a short documentary film instead of a long film that may be covered over a series of films. My idea was first of all to create a short documentary
however i have now decided to create a trailer for a full length documentary film.
